[ Matthew made himself as comfortable as possible besides her, arms opening in silent invitation. ]

I'd just rather not be awake when he comes in the room.

[ She took the invitation happily, wrapping an arm around him. Lili's head nestled into his chest, and let out a relieved sigh. She missed this. It felt like forever since they'd been like that, warm and loving and safe. She relaxed, pressing a short kiss against his lips. ]

Go to sleep, then. But I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, he adores you.

[ Unable to recall the last time he felt relaxed himself, Matthew kissed the top of her head in return and held her close. Safe. The way it was supposed to be - at least in his mind. ]
